Our Home Organizing Process
Never worked with a Professional Organizer before? No worries! Most of our clients hadn’t either, before finding Room Service Home Organizing. Here’s a brief rundown of the process so you know exactly what to expect.
First things first: there are no judgments here! We can assure you that we’ve seen it all, and we understand. Life gets busy. Everyone has quirks. Nobody’s perfect — and that’s okay. Room Service is here to help you tame your clutter so you can live your best life.
The theme we hear time and time again from our clients is that they feel too busy and overwhelmed and don’t know where to start with decluttering. The good news is: you don’t have to. Our team does the heavy lifting by sorting, categorizing, and creating systems, while you give input on the key decisions that shape your space. This way, your home is set up to fit your habits and routines without the stress of trying to do it all yourself. By the end of the project, a weight is lifted, leaving your home (and your mind!) feeling lighter, calmer, and easier to maintain.
So, where do we start? The first step is an in depth phone consultation to discuss your goals and your ideal timeline for your organizing project, and during the call we also let you know what to expect from the organizing process. We will request some photos of the space ahead of the call so we can assess the project and make a package recommendation over the phone to get you started. From there we can schedule your first session.
Next, the big day — your first organizing session! We start by discussing your goals for the space, and then we jump into pulling everything out and sorting items into clear categories. Next we review your sorted items and you give input on what stays and what goes. Rest assured, nothing is ever donated or discarded without your approval. If you feel unsure, we’ll ask thoughtful questions to bring clarity, never pressure. Our goal is to make decisions feel easier and aligned with your vision. This is our Sort and Simplify stage.
The belongings that you value most are given a purposeful home in an organizing system that feels intuitive for you. This is our Organize and Contain stage. Items that no longer serve you are removed and donations are loaded into our car and donated on your behalf, free of charge. If containers or products will help maximize the space, we keep a small selection of versatile basics on hand for purchase during sessions. For anything beyond that, we’ll make tailored recommendations during the session. For clients with included shopping hours in their package, we’ll send you product links so you can shop with ease.
When the work is complete, you’re left with a lighter home and a clearer mind. Clutter is gone, your belongings have purpose, and your space feels intuitive and easy to maintain. That’s the real game changer: when everything has a home and your systems are designed around your life, maintaining order becomes so much easier. It’s the peace of mind that comes from professional, done-for-you organizing.
And if you ever want extra support, we offer maintenance sessions to refresh and reset your spaces. This is what we call Maintain the Order. Life happens — surfaces fill, new things come in, kids outgrow their items — but once strong systems are in place, getting back on track is simple. Many of our clients schedule quick monthly, quarterly, or as needed refreshes when life gets busy, to fine tune their spaces, protect their investment, and enjoy lasting peace of mind.
