A Master Closet Transformation

This was such a fun closet organization project! My client reached out to me because she needed help getting her master closet organized. She had a gorgeous custom closet installed a couple years ago, but she expressed that it hadn’t ever felt like the “Dream Closet” she envisioned because it was overstuffed and disorganized. She didn’t want to part with any of her clothing or accessories, so my task was to get this closet beautifully organized and help her use the space as efficiently as possible, so she could fit all of her clothes, shoes, accessories, and handbags.

One big thing we did to maximize the space was fold the pants that were previously hanging. This opened up space to add six shelves for her purses and clutches, which were previously in a pile on the bottom of the closet. We also added shelves to accommodate more shoes. To do make more space, we organized shoes heel-to-toe and shortened the space between the shoe shelves to allow for more shelves.

My client lamented that there were so many beautiful purses she rarely used because it was difficult to see what she had, and find what she needed. These bins from The Container Store were the perfect solution: see through, so she can see what she has, but not so clear that it looks overly-busy. Now she can easily see all her options, and the lid-less bins make it easy to maintain. How great do these handbags look organized like this?!

The same clear plastic storage bins were also perfect for organizing file folded scarves. It was really important to my client to be able to easily see what she had and where it’s all located. These are an inexpensive and easy solution!

It took a lot of strategy and thinking outside the box (and adding a lot of additional shelves), but we organized my client’s overstuffed closet without her having to part with a single item! Success!
