3 Reasons to Organize Your Garage in June

Garages can be a great place to store tools, sporting and camping equipment, seasonal decor and, of course, our cars. But garages also often end up serving as a dumping ground for overflow clutter. As one client put it, "My garage is where things go to die". And she's not alone: 25% of people with two-car garages don’t have room to park any cars inside them, and 32% only have room for one car (U.S. Department of Energy).

Let's reclaim that space and give your cars the shelter they deserve! Below are 3 reasons why June is a great time to declutter your garage.

1) June typically brings mild weather, with highs in the 70's and 80's. Garages often involve a lot of physical work and lifting heavy objects, so you don't want to wait until temps hit the 90's and 100's later in the summer to tackle this space.

2) You'll have your camping and travel equipment organized and easy to access before you need them for that summer vacation. How many times have you scrambled to find all your camping equipment the night before leaving for your trip? Or had to shift through a garage full of stuff to get to your suitcases in the back? How much less stressful would packing be if you had it all organized and easy to access when you need it, and knew exactly where to put it all back when you return from the trip?

3) You'll be able to easily access your outdoor and sporting equipment, which means you'll be more likely to use it this summer. It's hard to go for a bike ride if it takes ten minutes of shifting items in the garage to get to the bikes, or the tires are flat but you can't find the bike pump. It's hard to play catch with the kids or grandkids if the baseball gloves are in a bin behind layers of old furniture, and the baseballs are lost. It's hard to go on a picnic with friends if the ice chest is buried under clutter. Life is so much easier when the things you need are organized and easy to get to.
